COVID-19 Response

November 4, 2022

Highview in the Woodlands wants to thank each and every one of you for all of your support and understanding over the last two years as we managed through COVID-19 and the restrictions it forced us to follow.

As you may know, all the COVID restrictions are changing. We would like you to know what that means for all of us here at Highview and anyone visiting.

First, we are now designated as Assisted Living doing skilled personal care. The definition of this is “Any health care personnel providing significant healthcare to one or more resident in non-skilled long-term care facilities (eg., hospice care, memory support, physical therapy, wound care, or catheter care) should follow the health care infection prevention and control in accordance with IDPH guidance and all facility policies related to SARS-CoV-2.”

Here are the changes that will be taking place.

  • We will no longer be screening at the door.
    • You may choose to wear a well-fitting cloth mask or a surgical mask
    • We do require that you sign in the guest book when you come to visit or take a resident out of the facility
    • If you are symptomatic with ( COVID, cold, flu, etc.) please do not come to visit your loved one until you are symptom free
  • You no longer need to call in advance to let us know that you are coming to visit.
    • You do not need to let us know when you are coming to visit.
  • READ the signs on the front doors
    • These will tell you if we are in High transmission or non-High
    • They will tell you if masks are REQUIRED or ADVISED
  • We will only be testing residents and staff who are symptomatic unless deemed necessary.
  • The cart in the front entryway will be removed.
    • On Assisted Living, bring the supplies to your loved ones apartment
    • If you do your loved ones laundry, you will need to pick up their dirty clothes and put them away when returned
    • On Sheltered Care supplies will need to be brought to the nurses station
    • Please have the items labeled when you bring them in
  • Number of family or friends visiting still needs to be limited.
    • In the effort of keeping everyone safe please use good judgment in the number of people visiting
    • Children are able to visit however they have to be able to wear a well -fitting mask and be totally symptom free
