Kate Garrett
Daughter of Highview in the Woodlands Resident
When Kate Garrett’s mom began to show signs that she needed an assisted living facility, Kate turned to her mother’s physician for guidance. Kate lived in California and needed a recommendation from someone local she could trust. He suggested Highview in the Woodlands.
“My mom had lived in the same house for 30 years, so I knew the transition to an assisted living facility would be difficult. But, her health and safety was my main concern. After touring Highview, I knew it would provide my mom the extra care she needed,” said Kate. “Highview had a warm, welcoming atmosphere to it that I felt would help my mom feel more comfortable. The staff was so friendly and really helped to make her transition as easy as possible. ”
Since Kate can only travel to visit her mom from California every few months, she places a lot of trust in the Highview staff. “The consistency in staff over the past six years has been very important to me,” said Kate. “I have really gotten to know and trust the people who work with my mother, and I am confident in the care she receives. Everyone demonstrates tremendous respect and care for all the residents.”
When her mom’s condition deteriorated, Highview worked with Kate to transition her mother from the assisted living apartments to the Alzheimer’s care unit. “The calm atmosphere in the Alzheimer’s care unit is very beneficial to my mother’s overall well-being. The staff all seem to truly enjoy what they do, and they provide such wonderful hands-on care.”
“Whenever I call or visit Highview, the staff go out of their way to tell me things about my mom and her health,” said Kate. “I really value the personalized interaction my mother receives and how much the staff cares about her.”
