Your Loved One Deserves the Best

Whether you are considering transitioning from your home to an assisted living facility, or caring for a family member with Alzheimer’s Disease, Highview’s expert care can help with all aspects of the aging process. From the initial admission assessment to the constant, ongoing monitoring of residents during residency, our signature care will ensure the best experience for you or your loved one. Once the needed level of care and financial requirements are established, the referral process for assisted living and Alzheimer/Dementia-Related Care includes three key areas for appropriate placement. They are facility licensure, continued education of staff and our rich experience of leadership.

Facility Licensure

Highview in the Woodlands has two licenses issued by the Illinois Department of Public Health. The Assisted Living licensure is for 36 beds (one or two bedroom apartments). The Shelter Care licensure, a higher level of licensure than Assisted Living, is for 26 beds (private rooms and bath) in our Alzheimer/Dementia-Related Care unit.

Staff Expertise

The Alzheimer Unit leadership staff hold bachelor degrees and are certified by the Rush Alzheimer’s Disease Center at the Rush University Medical Center in Chicago. The nurse trainer for all new nurses and certified nursing assistants are also certified through the Rush Alzheimer’s Disease Center in a “train the trainer” course for effective educators for person-centered dementia care. The philosophy of our Alzheimer unit is Montessori-based with two certified Montessori teachers, one full time and one part time. Highview also employs both RNs and LPNs. All staff are trained in recognizing and approaching residents with Alzheimer/Dementia.

Experienced Leadership

Highview’s Administrator and two Assistant Administrators, all certified Dementia practitioners, combine 70 years of experience in geriatric long term care. This includes 57 years of combined experience in Alzheimer/Dementia-Related Care. All of our nurses have backgrounds and experience in geriatric nursing and Alzheimer/Dementia-Related Care.
